MISSION:
To serve traditionally underserved students with
educational enrichment services thereby aiding in the
rebirth of greater educational opportunities in
Cleveland and Greater Cleveland.
VISION:
We believe that every student has the right to an
education most appropriate to that student and that
students must be encouraged to take advantage of
educational opportunities and to expect them
throughout life.

partnership with EES may have different specific
missions and services than those of EES.
Who We Are
EES founder, executive director, and lead
instructor, Will Napoli, served as the Starlab
instructor teaching introductory astronomy for
SEMAA in Cleveland from 2001 thru 2008. In
this work Will served thousands of students
(K - 12) in Cleveland as well as introductory
astronomy students at Cuyahoga Community
College's Metro Campus. Will also has
served as a robotics volunteer, coach,
mentor, and consultant since 2002 and
eventually became director of the NEO FLL
Regional in 2004 and 2005. EES has a
distinguished record of achievement with the
teams with which it has directly provided
services.
Without a staff at EES, Will has provided his
own services and use of materials to EES as
a volunteer. For all the work Will has
undertaken for EES, he has not received any
financial compensation. In this way, EES is
not significantly different from its original
nature as a volunteer service.
Special Opportunities for
Students
EES is especially interested in working with
students of all ages who have a keen interest
in astronomy, notable writing skills, and an
interest in research. Astronomy texts for
youth learning have been developed and
more are in development, but inclusion of
student work is sought with the goal of
eventually providing internships with EES so
that Cleveland students can be involved in
the development of exciting new astronomy
educational materials and services, thus
becoming the some of the first experts in the
new astronomy, which is coming together
with the increased discovery of planets
beyond the solar system and the growing
use of interplanetary calendars and other
space calendars. With the Harvard
Calculators as a model, EES hopes to create
a pool of Cleveland students who will
become highly educated in modern
astronomy and young educators in demand
as presenters and as incoming students in
college science and technology programs.
Similarly, the FLL Earthlings will be involved
in video productions to educate other
students regarding the annual science
themes in the FLL, robotics in general, and
astronomy as part of the Rocket Ship
Remember Program. Here they will develop
presentation skills and teach other young
students while building teamwork skills and
hopefully having lots of fun.

Our History
EES was founded in 2001 as a volunteer service to
supplement the free educational services of NASA's
Science, Engineering, Mathematics, and Aerospace
Academy (SEMAA) in Cleveland, Ohio. EES was later
incorporated in 2004 when it became the primary
sponsor of the FIRST LEGO League's Northeast Ohio
Regional competition, a robotics tournament
qualifying teams for the state competition in Dayton,
Ohio. Other major sponsors included Parker-
Hannifin, Concept XXI, and Cuyahoga Community
College (Tri-C). Extensive volunteer services were
provided by the Shaw Megabots FRC robotics team.
Since then, EES has provided the following services:
- simple machines and tabletop robotics
classes at Tri-C's Metro Campus, educating
young students in introductory engineering,
- tabletop robotics demonstrations at the Rock-
n-Roll Hall of Fame and Museum for the
Cleveland Municipal School District,
- tabletop robotics demonstrations at Cuyahoga
County Public Library branches,
- research astronomy presentations to the Intro
to Astronomy class and lab at Tri-C Metro,
- educational supplements and supplies for
SEMAA's Starlab astronomy presentations and
classroom studies,
- photos and photo discs for SEMAA students,
teachers, parents, and SEMAA promotion,
- Creative Imaging classes at the Neopolis
gallery with support from the Martha Holden
Jennings Foundation.
In 2003, EES provided a presentation by Will Napoli
for the national COOL Conference held that year at
Cleveland State University entitled Self-empowerment
through a New Mystical Symbology, which covered a
philosophical approach to cosmology first developed
in the mid-80s and coincidentally consistent with then
contemporary and more recent advances in
theoretical physics, a model of consciousness, and
an organic information handling system.
